We’re turning players into performers. We believe that every player should experience the thrill of the spotlight. On our platform, Hero, streamers of all sizes will be discovered by their audience and feel the roar of their crowd. Every audience member has the ability to deeply interact with their favorite performers and influence the key moments in critical matches. Our goal is for players and game developers to better understand their audience in order to foster incredible performances.
Welcome to Hero!
Hero is a live audience interactive platform built on top of existing streaming services, such as Twitch, Mixer, and YouTube. On Hero you can watch your favorite live streams as normal and still use their chat, as well as enjoy the additional functionality that Hero provides. To watch a specific stream, simply follow the example link format www.hero.tv/twitch/username and replace the username with the name of the streamer you want to watch. You can even use Hero on mobile by following the link format above. Here is a link to the latest Features Update!
Integration with SOS:
Outpost Games is working on both the Hero platform as well as a game called SOS. SOS is a multiplayer first-person shooter survival game where 16 players are scattered across a jungle island and only 3 of them can escape. Here is a link to read more about SOS and where to pick up a copy if you choose to do so: Official SOS page!
The Hero platform is integrated directly into the game. Spectating a player in SOS will give you access to the feedback system in-game where you can respond to the player’s actions. You can even watch your favorite players on Hero.tv and any feedback you send to them will be directly tied to their SOS profile. The number of viewers you see in-game includes both SOS spectators and your viewers on Hero.
By watching your favorite streamers on Hero, you can click the 5 emote buttons below the video stream to send feedback to the streamer and all players on their screen. The visible sentiments will shift depending on what kinds of feedback are being sent and the quantity of each of them. Viewers can hold down the feedback buttons to release a burst of feedback, or just left-click the buttons as normal.
If the SOS streamer has connected their Twitch account with Hero then any viewers watching their stream on Hero.tv will be able to send them feedback. The most-active audience sentiment will be displayed on the streamer’s screen. Sending Feedback not only helps streamers be more entertaining but it also affects their Leaderboard ranking.
In SOS there are two different leaderboards, one for player skill and the other for player fame. Player fame is determined by the amount of time viewers have spectated that player, either on Hero or in SOS, as well as the combination and quantity of sentiment that the player has received. You can support your favorite streamers by watching them on Hero and using the feedback system to launch them toward the top of the fame leaderboards.
The primary goal of the feedback system is to foster better performances as the streamer can now see the live audience sentiment. Streamers will be encouraged to repeat actions that result in bursts of positive feedback and to avoid actions that result in negative feedback, improving the overall quality of their stream.
In the future, we plan to expand upon the feedback system to provide actionable insights for streamers on our upcoming Dashboard. For example, eventually Hero will store the sentiments and provide streamers with charts that show their most interesting moments so that they can learn from the data and easily find their best clips.
Viewer Voting in SOS:
Another major feature of Hero is that viewers can vote on what items will drop in-game when a supply-drop is triggered. SOS players can activate a supply-drop by firing a flair gun and then if they are streaming on Hero, their viewers will be able to vote. The streamer must have their Twitch and Hero accounts linked.
We would love to hear your thoughts on the Hero Reddit about our existing designs, our plans for the future, or any suggestions you have for the platform. We also have an official Discord channel for the Hero community which is a great place for spontaneous discussion.
Bugs, Issues, Feedback, and Help:
If you require immediate support with a bug, then please go to the following link and click Contact Customer Support. Try to be as descriptive as possible with the issue you are experiencing and the steps you took to produce it. If you have an example, screenshot, or video, it is always helpful to include that in your ticket.
Alternatively, if you experience any minor bugs you can also report them to us on the Hero Reddit by clicking the “Submit a new text post” button and tagging the thread with the “Bug Report” flair. Other users may also be able to help you on the Hero Reddit or the Hero Discord so don’t hesitate to reach out! You may find that other users have experienced a similar problem and have already found a solution.
Both of those places are also the best way to leave feedback for us. We regularly browse those platforms to see how the community is doing. Have you been enjoying Hero? Let us know on our Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, and Discord and we can’t wait to hear more about experience!
Right now the Hero team is working on a wide variety of new features for the platform. While we can’t share too many specific details yet, a major goal of the platform is to eventually analyze the feedback viewers send and turn that into actionable insights for the streamer. Hero will provide streamers with the tools to become better performers. Our insights will be stored in the upcoming Streamer dashboard which is still a work-in-progress.
If you are a streamer, we would love to hear what kinds of insights you would value the most or if you have any other ideas for new features. We are also interested in hearing all suggestions from viewers about what would make your Hero experience more enjoyable. The best place to leave us feedback or suggestions is on the Hero Reddit. Check the stickied threads at the top for primary discussion threads and updates on features. Here is a link to the latest Features Update!
We are also working on new tools to make live streaming more interactive for viewers. The Hero team is constantly working on polishing the feedback system and we are also in the early stages of designing our Voting system. Later this year, streamers will be able to customize a vote specifically for their stream that is embedded directly into Hero. For example, viewers could vote on what games they would like you to play next. We hope that features like these will create a richer viewing experience for our users by helping streamers learn more about what their audience wants to see.
Thank you for using Hero! We look forward to getting to know you on our community pages.
